The film was based on a Pulitzer Prize winning book. The screenplay closely follows the book as it was written by the same author. Paul Newman won an Emmy for his role and Phillip Seymour Thomas, Ed Harris and Joanne Woodward were also nominated for Emmys.(I thought William should have been nominated of course) I went up there (Maine) to visit a friend in the film and to watch the location filming for a few days and that's where I met Mr. Fichtner and others connected with the film. Empire Falls is re-running again on HBO Signature and it's an excellent production and story. It's a four hour film and is usually aired in 2 parts. Hey was I the only one to notice that william said the same great one-liner in Empire falls and in Armageddon. He says " NO TIME!" in both. He did the same to An episode of Grace under fire and the movie Passion of Mind. He said " You-I love."

I just bought the film through Amazon because I heard it was a great film with an excellent cast. I can't wait until it arrives. Plus William Fichtner is an excellent actor and I thought I would give it a shot. It looks like an awesome film. Thanks Everyone- Kris.

Hello All, For all of U that have seen this film, how big a part does William Fichtner have? In some of his movies he gets short changed, i.e. THE DARK KNIGHT. I'm surprised, but in those small parts his still brings it and shows off his talents, AWESOME. Kris L. CocKayne LUV U WILLIAM

@ Kris - I don't own or have seen the whole film, but what I can tell you is I've seen all his parts on YouTube. There is a fight in the film between his character and another. It is quite something to watch as it almost looks real. I plan on purchasing this film sooner or later.
